Mangaluru: A proud moment for St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) that the Government of India has officially conferred the rank of Honorary Colonel and the appointment of ‘Colonel Commandant’ in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ. on 25th June 2026 vide Ref No: UN/NOTICE*/2026/102.
This distinguished national recognition is detailed in the Official Gazette of India dated 02 May 2026. The Vice Chancellor will hold this honorary rank for the duration of his office.
This historic milestone reflects the exceptional leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ. It also underscores the institution’s unwavering commitment to fostering discipline, civic responsibility and youth leadership through the NCC.
He will receive this honour in the month of July 2026 from the Senior Officials of the Indian Armed Forces (NCC Officials).
