Nurture 2026 – Paediatric National Seminar cum Workshop Organized Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital

Mangaluru: The Department of Paediatrics, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, organized NURTURE 2026 – Paediatric National Seminar cum Workshop on 8th August 2026 at the Father Muller Seminar Hall.

The program was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, in the presence of Dr ESJ Prabhu Kiran, Principal; Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, Vice Principal; Dr Girish Navada, Medical Superintendent and resource persons Dr Preetham Philip Tauro and Dr Sagar S Jambagi. DrESJ Prabhu Kiran welcomed the gathering. The resource persons were welcomed and honoured by Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta. The program commenced with the symbolic lighting of the lamp. In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta highlighted the importance of focused, small-group workshops with clear objectives and spoke on the significance of the word “Nurture” in paediatric care. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Reshel Noronha, Organizing Secretary and HOD, Department of Paediatrics.

The first academic session was conducted by Dr. Preetham Philip Tauro, MBBS, MD (Paed), DNB, Consultant Paediatrician, Father Muller Medical College, Kankanady. He spoke on “Red Flag Signs in Neonates” and emphasized the critical symptoms that need to be monitored in newborns for early intervention. The second session was delivered by Dr. Sagar S. Jambagi, BHMS, MD (Hom Paed), DMS & HOD, Department of Paediatrics, HKE’s Homoeopathic Medical College, Gulbarga. He presented on “Clinical Tips in Treating Children with Homoeopathy” and stressed the importance of keen observation while treating children. He also discussed various materia medica relevant for paediatric cases. Both sessions were well-received and appreciated by the delegates.

The afternoon session featured a Paediatric Hands-on Workshop covering: Paediatric Resuscitation, Paediatric Airway Insertion, Paediatric Nasogastric Tube Insertion and Paediatric IV Cannulation and Fluid Calculation. The workshop was conducted by Preema Reshma Pinto, Prof. Wilma Shalini Noronha, Anitha Nancy D’Souza, and Manoj P.S. from the Father Muller Paediatric Nursing Department. Delegates were divided into teams and rotated through workstations, spending 30 minutes at each station. The workshop significantly enhanced the practical skills of postgraduates and provided better understanding of essential paediatric procedures.

The event also included paper and poster presentations by postgraduates. The paper presentations were moderated by Dr. Jyoshna Shivaprasad, Professor, Department of Paediatrics, and Dr. Shreyank S. Kotian, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery.

The poster presentations were moderated by Dr. Meenu Maria Mathew, Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Delegates from various homoeopathic medical colleges across North Karnataka and Kanyakumari participated in NURTURE 2026. The program proved to be an enriching academic and skill-based experience for all paediatric postgraduates.
