Mumbai, Sept 24: Passengers narrowly escaped danger after a private bus traveling from Rajasthan caught fire on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Officials stated that all passengers on board the private sleeper coach bus managed to disembark safely and in time; no casualties or injuries were reported.
The bus, which was en route from Udaipur to Pune, caught fire near Panvel around 7:20 AM today. Preliminary reports suggest the fire was caused by a technical fault in the bus’s air-conditioning (AC) system.
The incident occurred on the Pune-bound lane of the expressway, within the jurisdiction of the Rasayani police station. Upon receiving the information, local fire brigade units and rescue teams from various departments rushed to the scene and subsequently extinguished the fire.
Police stated that fire teams from the Panvel Municipal Corporation and the Khopoli Municipal Council were also deployed for the operation.
