New York, May 02: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has urged King Charles III of Britain to return the Kohinoor Diamond to India.

Mamdani, who arrived at an event organized to commemorate the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks, spoke to the media.
The time has come to right the injustices of history. The Kohinoor Diamond, which was taken from India during the British era, is today an important jewel in the British royal family and should be returned to India. He said that if he gets a chance to talk to King Charles III of Britain, he will talk about this.
History says that the Kohinoor Diamond originally belonged to India and was taken to England during the British rule.
In this context, several countries, including India, are demanding the return of their cultural and historical treasures.
The Indian government and many historians have repeatedly requested Britain to return the Kohinoor diamond. However, the British government has repeatedly refused, saying that it was obtained legally. In this context, Mamdani’s statement has once again brought this issue to the fore in the international forum.
