Delhi, May 08: A three-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a staff member inside a private school in west Delhi’s Janakpuri.
On May 1, the victim’s mother filed a complaint at the Janakpuri police station, alleging that her daughter was sexually assaulted by an unknown school staff member during school hours.
“Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 64(1) of the Indian Penal Code (punishment for rape) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the police, the child managed to identify the accused, which led to his quick arrest. He was later produced before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody.
A court in Dwarka granted bail to the accused on May 7, the police said in a statement. “The bail was granted despite strong opposition from the prosecution,” the police said.
“Further action will be taken after receiving and reviewing the court order, we are still awaiting the order,” the police said in a statement.
