Mumbai, Sept 02: The Bombay High Court today ordered a CBI probe into the death of Bollywood actor late Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian. Disha’s father had expressed doubts about the circumstances surrounding her death in 2020.
A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinh Raja Bhosale said that the CBI should record the statement of the deceased’s father Satish Salian and register an FIR. However, it also said that no person can be considered an accused until sufficient evidence is collected against them during the investigation.
The court ordered the Mumbai Police to immediately hand over all the documents in the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“If the investigation reveals that nothing has come out, the CBI should file a suitable summary report before the court concerned. Satish Salian is at liberty to challenge the report,” the bench said.
Disha Salian died after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area on June 8, 2020. Later, the city police registered an accidental death report (ADR). After conducting an inquiry, the police declared Disha Salian’s death a suicide.
However, Disha’s father had filed a petition in the high court last year alleging that his daughter was gang-raped and murdered. Salian had sought a CBI probe into his daughter’s death and an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
Satish Salian’s lawyer Nilesh Ojha had expressed doubts about the police investigation into the case.
In his petition, his daughter died under mysterious circumstances in June 2020. She was raped and murdered, and then the incident was covered up to protect some influential people, they alleged.
