Bagalkote, Sept 24: A dhaba owner from near Gaddankeri Cross has died after failing to respond to treatment following a severe assault by a head warder from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Jail over a trivial matter.
The deceased dhaba owner has been identified as Mehaboobsab Pattewale (58).
Adiveppa, a head warder from Parappana Agrahara Jail who was visiting his hometown on leave, arrived at Mehaboobsab’s dhaba at night and asked for a meal. When informed that the food was sold out, the warder picked a quarrel and severely assaulted the dhaba owner.
Mehaboobsab suffered heavy bleeding due to the assault. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Bagalkote but passed away today as treatment proved ineffective. It is reported that Head Warder Adiveppa also sustained head injuries during the altercation.
The Kaladagi police have registered a case regarding the incident and have arrested the accused, Adiveppa, for questioning.
