New Delhi: Adani Group founder and chairman Gautam Adani has overtaken billionaire Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani to become Asia’s richest person. This comes on the back of a surge in Adani Group’s share values.

Mukesh Ambani had been Asia’s richest person for many years before this change. Currently, Adani’s wealth is $92.6 billion, while Ambani’s wealth is around $90.8 billion. Both the businessmen are among the top 20 richest people in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Interestingly, the share prices of Adani Group companies rose today. Adani Power’s share price rose by about 1 percent. Adani Total Gas rose by more than 2 percent. Adani Green Energy rose 0.44 per cent, while Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone rose 1.6 per cent. Several other Adani entities also traded in the green.
The ranking changes frequently as the wealth figures are based on share prices and business performance. Therefore, the changes reflect fluctuations in global markets.
While Adani Group’s businesses include infrastructure, energy and logistics, Ambani-led Reliance Industries is strong in energy, telecom and retail.
