Mangaluru: A career guidance and examination preparation workshop was organised for SSLC students at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Government High School, Pavoor, by Nehru Chinthana Kendra, Mangalore University.
The programme aimed to help students prepare confidently for the SSLC examination while also giving them an understanding of the career opportunities available after school.
Satish Bhat Bilinele, retired teacher, Ramakunja Aided High School, Uppinangady, inaugurated the programme and served as the resource person. In an interactive session, he spoke to the students about different career choices and the importance of developing a clear goal for the future.
He also discussed common challenges faced by students during their studies, such as poor concentration, lack of memory, fear, self-doubt, examination stress, shyness, distractions and difficulty expressing themselves. He encouraged the students to identify their own challenges and work towards overcoming them through regular practice and positive thinking.
The session included simple memory techniques, concentration-building activities and practical strategies to manage examination fear and improve recall. The interactive approach encouraged students to openly reflect on their difficulties and participate actively in the session.
The programme highlighted that examination preparation is not limited to securing good marks, but also involves building confidence, mental preparedness and a positive attitude towards one’s future.
Smt. Sharmila, Headmistress, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Government High School, Pavoor, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Nayana Krishnapura, Research Assistant, Nehru Chinthana Kendra, Mangalore University, spoke about the purpose of the initiative. Smt. Greshma was the MC, and Smt. Vidya proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was planned under the guidance of Prof. Prashantha Naik, Director, Nehru Chinthana Kendra, Mangalore University, as part of the Centre’s efforts to reach government school students through meaningful educational and career-oriented programmes.
