Bengaluru, Aug 12: The US has proposed to join ISRO in NASA’s massive project to build a permanent human base on the moon and lay the foundation for future exploration of Mars.
This is a very significant development for India. It is a major global recognition of the progress India is making in the field of space. NASA extended this invitation at the 9th ‘India-US Civil Space Joint Working Group’ (India-US CSJWG) meeting held in Bengaluru.
The meeting held yesterday at ISRO headquarters was attended by ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore, among other high-ranking officials.
Artemis Accords Extension
This invitation will further strengthen the partnership between India and the US under the ‘Artemis Accords’. Both countries have agreed to freely share scientific data related to space research.
