Bengaluru, Aug 12: The discovery of a mobile phone, pen drive, diary and charger in the barracks of former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru, has created a stir. In this regard, a case has been registered against two prisoners at Parappana Agrahara Police Station on the complaint of a police inspector (CCB), and a joint investigation has been conducted by the CCB and the local police. Not only that, the jail authorities have been suspended in connection with the incident.
Background of the case
When the CCB police conducted a quick check in room number 4 on the first floor of Security Division-3, a blue ‘Redmi 5G’ mobile phone, a white charger, a blue pocket notebook and a ‘Sandisk’ pen drive were found and seized. In the case, the FIR has named Pratap Roy, the undertrial prisoner, as the first accused (A1) and Prajwal Revanna as the second accused (A2).
The seized mobile phone was found to contain social networking apps like Facebook, Instagram and OTT apps like Netflix and Prime Video. However, both the prisoners stated during interrogation that they did not know the account passwords of these apps and did not reveal where the phone came from.

During interrogation, accused Pratap Roy admitted that the mobile phone belonged to him and that he was using it to call lawyers and relatives. Meanwhile, the police complaint copy mentions that the accused Prajwal Revanna also admitted that he had taken the mobile phone from Pratap and was calling his lawyers and relatives.
Currently, Parappana Agrahara and CCB police have intensified the investigation into how this mobile phone came into the jail and with whom it was communicated. The jail authorities have been given a strict instruction and suspended by giving a notice to inform them about how the mobile phone came into the jail by noon.
