Chamarajanagar, Sept 3: The incident in which three hunters were killed in a shooting attack in Hanur forest was a topic of discussion across the country. However, it is said that poaching continues in the forest. Now another incident has come to light to support this allegation. The hunters fled when the forest staff arrived while they were hunting the deer, cutting it into three parts and stuffing the meat in bags.
The incident is said to have taken place on the night of September 1 near the Uduthorehalla reservoir under the jurisdiction of Male Mahadeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district. The four accused, who hunted the deer with a rifle, later cut its body into three parts and stuffed the meat in bags, according to forest department sources.
Forest staff found the meat bag and fled
While the forest staff was patrolling near the Uduthorehalla dam, the movement of the poachers came to their attention. Seeing the staff coming, the accused threw the bags filled with the meat of the deer on the spot and fled.
Case registered, search to find the accused
The forest staff who inspected the spot found the body parts of the deer and the bags filled with meat. A case has been registered in the Hanur buffer zone in connection with the incident, and the forest department staff is continuing the search to find the accused.
Although the forest department is taking strict measures to prevent the hunting of wild animals, the fact that the poachers are active again is a cause for concern.
Poaching allegations again after the Hanur shootout
The shooting incident that took place in the Hanur forest area on August 14 was the subject of discussion across the country.
