Mangaluru: Santhosh Notagar, a senior faculty member of the Department of Computer Animation, St Aloysius deemed to be University, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to attend the Asia Pacific Conference 2026, scheduled to be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from 15–17 May 2026. He is also slated to deliver a talk on the St Aloysius University Model for Open Knowledge Integration at the conference.

With over 16 years of service in the Department of Computer Animation, Santhosh currently serves as the Head of the Department. In addition, he holds the responsibility of Co-Chair for the International & Domestic Relations Cell. Over the years, he has actively contributed to multiple initiatives in the open knowledge ecosystem, particularly within the Wikipedia community.
He is presently serving as the South Asian Ambassador for the Wikipedia Asian Month campaign. Under his guidance, more than 2,000 Wikipedia articles in different languages have been created across South Asia. As part of a Wikimedia Foundation-supported project in the United States, he has also documented over 50 Karnataka folk culture videos and contributed them to Wikimedia Commons.
Santhosh’s contributions have been recognized through several national and international scholarships and participations. These include the Wikisource Conference held in Bali, Indonesia (2025), the Train the Trainer Scholarship in Cochin (2023), the Advanced Train the Trainer program at IIIT Hyderabad(2025), the Wiki Technology Summit(2024), and the Oral Indic Culture Scholarship programs conducted in Delhi and Bangalore(2024 & 2025).
Notably, he is the only recipient of this Asia Pacific Conference scholarship from India and the South Asian region, marking a significant achievement both personally and institutionally.
