Lucknow, July 15: A 36-year-old American Californian, Jordan Brown, was arrested by security personnel at the Sonauli border in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh for illegally crossing the India-Nepal border without any visa or passport documents.


The arrested person kept changing his statements during interrogation and it has come to light during the investigation that he has connections from Bengaluru and Goa. Currently, this incident has caused intense curiosity and anxiety in the Indian internal security community.
Security personnel tied a rope and dragged him at the border:
The incident took place near the international border pillar number 516 under the Bhagwanpur police outpost under the Sonauli Kotwali limits. Wearing only knickers, this foreign national was stopped by the 22nd Battalion of the ‘Sashastra Seema Bal’ (SSB) soldiers who were trying to sneak into Nepal through an unauthorized footpath.
As soon as he saw the security personnel, he started running away. The soldiers who immediately sprang into action chased him and tied a rope to his legs and took him away. The video of the villagers following him has gone viral on social media. 2 smartphones and Rs 31,460 in cash have been seized from the arrested person.
Stayed in Bengaluru and Goa for 8 months:
The shocking information revealed during the investigation is that the arrested Jordan Brown had stayed in major Indian cities like Goa and Bengaluru for exactly 8 months without any legal documents. According to the investigators, he had travelled from Bengaluru to Lucknow by bus on July 8 and reached Gorakhpur from there. He then took a taxi from there and reached the Sonauli border.
Statements of the suspect who is in a state of confusion:
According to the information given by Sonauli police station officer Mahendra Mishra, the arrested Jordan Brown did not give any satisfactory response to the investigating agencies during interrogation. He is giving unrelated statements about his travel history and the purpose of his visit.
He claims that he studied at the University of California, served in the US Navy and Special Forces for 6 years and retired 2 years ago.
He says that once when he went to Thailand on a tourist visa, his documents were stolen, then he reached Sri Lanka by boat and came to India from there. Again, he is saying that he visited Bali, Indonesia in May and came to India from there.
Where is the passport?
He said that his passport is with an acquaintance in Bangalore. But he failed to provide the address of that acquaintance. He said that he was going to Nepal to meet a Nepali national named “Naz” whom he met in Goa. He claimed that he married a yoga teacher from Uttarakhand, whom he met in Italy 3 years ago, in October 2024.
