Kanpur, Aug 27: A four-seater light training plane crashed in a protected forest area near the Ganga Barrage in Kanpur on Thursday morning, killing both the pilot and the trainee on board.



According to information given by Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal, the horrific accident occurred at around 11.50 am. The deceased have been initially identified as being from Karnataka and Gujarat.
Experienced pilot: The chief instructor pilot who was flying the plane had vast experience of flying for over 3,000 hours.
Immediately after receiving information about the accident, local police and disaster management teams rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has started an investigation into whether the crash was due to engine failure or adverse weather conditions.
