Mangaluru: An international one-day workshop titled ‘Literary Writing’ (SahityikLikni) was jointly organized under the auspices of the Mangalore University Konkani Chair and St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) at the university auditorium.
Ln. Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu from Illinois was present as the chief guest. He shared his thoughts and experiences regarding ‘Likni’ and the ‘Veez’ magazine.
Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis S.J., Vice-Chancellor of the University, delivered a message emphasizing that Konkani is lively and active within the university, paying homage to the Konkani flag and language and konkannimanyathadiwas.
On this occasion, Rev. Fr. Brian Pereira S.J., Rector of St. Aloysius Educational Institutions, launched the Ashawadi Prakashan website and spoke about the contributions of the Jesuits to the Konkani language.
Rev. Fr. Prashant Madtha (Director of the Konkani Institute), Shanan Pinto and Aaron Pinto, (Secretary of the Konkani Association), were present on the stage.
Dr. Preeti Keerthi D’Souza, Coordinator of the Mangalore University Konkani Chair, welcomed the gathering, while Flora Castelino HOD of Konkanni presented the vote of thanks.
A symposium on ‘ Mic Max’ (the late Konkani writer/poet ) was conducted, featuring Juliet Moras and Hemacharya. Songs written by him across various regions were presented under the music direction of Sanjay Rodrigues. On this occasion, the Konkani movie Nachuia Kumpasar was also screened.
