Davangere: An incident occurred on National Highway 48 near Anagoda in Davangere taluk. The locals informed the Forest Department after seeing the leopard writhing in severe pain after falling into a drain next to the highway. Forest Department personnel immediately reached the spot and took steps to relocate the leopard.
The Forest Department personnel tried to move the injured leopard by giving it anesthesia, but when the anesthesia was given, it became even more aggressive and started attacking the forest personnel who came to its rescue. The Forest Department personnel immediately tried to escape from there. As a result of the leopard’s serious injury to its hind leg, it came and sat on the side of the road in some time.
After that, the Forest Department personnel gave primary treatment to the injured and suffering leopard and worked to shift it. The leopard has been shifted to Kamalapur Zoological Park near Hampi for further treatment.
It has been reported that the leopard, which was injured in a car collision on the highway at midnight, has been injured, and more than 20 forest department personnel have been involved in the rescue operation. Anesthesia experts who arrived from Hospet have anesthetized the leopard and captured it.
Furthermore, in the incident, the leopard attacked Forest Department watcher Marulasiddappa, but fortunately, the watcher Marulasiddappa escaped death. The leopard bit the watcher Marulasiddappa on the hand and shoulder, and he is being treated at a private hospital in Davangere.
