Nigeria, September 07: British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho Ubiribo, 43, has died of a fatal pulmonary embolism after undergoing cosmetic Genitalia enlargement surgery in Thailand.
He underwent surgery at a hospital while on holiday in Bangkok with his wife Danielle Simba Allen. He then complained of chest pains. He was rushed to hospital. CPR was attempted for over an hour and a half but to no avail. A post-mortem examination in the UK found a substance in his lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid used in the injection.
Evidence presented at Inner West London Coroner’s Court revealed that Ubiribo was given 40ml of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine during the surgery, according to a Daily Mail report.
Ubiribo went to get a massage from Allen after experiencing chest pain and then fainted twice. He was taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok. Doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism, which occurs when a blood vessel in his lung becomes blocked.
His condition then deteriorated and he was admitted to the intensive care unit. Doctors performed CPR for more than 100 minutes, but he died on the morning of March 6. A post-mortem examination in Britain found cellular material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the injection. Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin concluded that Ubiribo died of a pulmonary embolism caused by the injection of hyaluronic acid.
