Puttur: Students of St Philomena Autonomous College delivered an impressive performance at the Mangalore University-level inter-collegiate sports meet held at Alva’s College on April 27 and 28, securing several top positions in the weightlifting competitions.
In the women’s weightlifting category, third B.Sc student Spandana K clinched first place in the 48 kg division. Drishya K V secured second place in the 58 kg category, while Sinchana B finished third in the 77 kg division. Chameesha U also brought laurels to the institution by securing third place in the 63 kg category.
The college athletes also excelled in the men’s section of the competition. Ritesh K I won first place in the 71 kg category, while third BA student Ranjith Kumar secured second place in the 110 kg division. Abhijith finished third in the 79 kg category.
The achievements of the students were appreciated by the Principal of the college, Rev. Dr. Anthony Prakash Monteiro, along with the faculty members, who congratulated the winners for their outstanding performance at the prestigious university-level sporting event.
