Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement to come into effect from tomorrow – US announcement

New Delhi: For the past several months, there have been heavy missile attacks and airstrikes between the Israeli army and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah organization. The US and other international mediators have been holding continuous diplomatic talks to end this war. Now, finally, the two countries have agreed to peace. According to this agreement, both countries will have to completely stop the attacks from tomorrow morning.

It is said that the terms have been imposed that Hezbollah should withdraw its weapons and fighters from the border areas of southern Lebanon and the Israeli army should also withdraw its soldiers from the border. The United Nations peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese National Army will be given more responsibility to monitor whether the terms of the ceasefire are being followed properly.

The agreement came despite renewed exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah earlier this morning, highlighting the fragility of the ceasefire. The US, Qatari and Iranian mediators have been engaged in intensive talks in recent days amid growing concerns that the ongoing clashes in Lebanon could derail broader regional talks.

The Israel-Hezbollah war has displaced millions of people in Lebanon and northern Israel. The US government’s announcement is being seen as a major step towards peace in the Middle East and around the world. The decision has been welcomed by leaders from many countries.
