Karkala, July 01: The historical St Lawrence Basilica of Attur- Karkala is all set to celebrate the titular feast of St Lawrence. The nine days novena was inaugurated by V Rev Msgr Francis Louis, the Vicar General of Diocese of Udupi by hoisting the Basilica flag. In his message, he asserted that the devotees across the world are blessed by St Lawrence and the novena is an occasion to seek his blessings. The miracles happened by the grace of St Lawrence have brought the devotees under his shelter.
The rector of the Basilica V. Rev Fr Alban DSouza in his message expressed the hope that, the decennial celebration is an occasion to spread the glory of St Lawrence to more people. V. Rev Msgr Francis Louis was felicitated on behalf of Basilica.
Vice President of parish pastoral council Vandish Mathias compered the programme and welcomed all. Secretary Melwyn Castelino proposed vote of thanks. Assistant Parish Priest Rev Robin Santhumayer, spiritual priest Rev. Roman Mascarenhas and large number devotees were present.
