Secunderabad, July 13: The number of people getting children through surrogacy is increasing. This requires sperm. On the other hand, child trafficking is also going on unabated, and it has become an illegal business worth thousands of crores of rupees.

All this requires sperm donors. This is a big network of collecting sperm, giving birth to children and illegally smuggling them, and the police have now busted a shocking network
This is a shocking case of exploitation and unethical practices in the health sector, and people are shocked. The task force police raided a private sperm bank in Secunderabad and exposed a big scam.
This is a scam in which clinic staff lure beggars and pedestrians with biryani to donate sperm. According to the police, the target of these clinic staff is beggars sitting outside the hospital. They are called to the hospital on the pretext of providing treatment.
Biryani is served, along with a cash payment of Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000. In return, they are asked to donate sperm. A network has been unearthed in which sperm samples are taken to a bathroom or a separate room, collected and then sent to fertility centres in Ahmedabad.
Links to surrogacy and child trafficking
It has been learnt that this clinic was part of a large-scale illegal surrogacy and child trafficking racket. Sperm was collected cheaply by exploiting the poor and beggars, and the police have seized 16 samples.
Seven people, including the clinic staff and the manager, have been arrested. An FIR was lodged and an investigation was launched. However, it could not be confirmed that all the samples came from beggars.
The case highlights the unethical practices going on in fertility clinics. Sperm donation is legal in India, but it requires strict rules and consent. It is completely illegal to take advantage of the poor by luring them.
The task force seized several documents and samples during the raid. The clinic is reportedly linked to a fertility centre in Ahmedabad. The news has caused a stir. According to Indian law, sperm donation must be voluntary. Donating through financial inducement or fraud is illegal. The Surrogacy Control Act is also stringent. It is important to crack down on such rackets.
