Another heinous act in Delhi – 16-year-old girl gang-raped on bus on pretext of giving a drop

New Delhi: Another heinous act has come to light in Delhi. A 16-year-old girl was gang-raped by a group of men who allegedly forced her onto a bus on the pretext of giving her a drop. The incident took place near Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate area.

Police sources said that the bus driver and conductor have been arrested in connection with the case.

The girl, who had a fight with her mother at home, had travelled from Mainpuri to Noida to meet her relatives. She had boarded the bus to Noida Sector 63. However, due to heavy rain and poor visibility, she got down at Pari Chowk by mistake.

Later, the girl stopped a bus on the road and sought help. There were no passengers in the bus at that time. The girl boarded the bus after the conductor told her that the bus was heading towards Noida Sector 63.

Police sources said that soon after the bus started moving, the conductor started misbehaving with the girl.

Later, the driver and the conductor sexually assaulted the girl inside the bus. They allegedly threatened her with serious consequences if she resisted.

Later that night, the accused left the girl near the Kashmiri Gate bus stand and fled.

After the incident, the girl contacted the Kashmiri Gate police. She was subjected to a medical examination in the presence of a female police officer. Based on the girl’s statement, an FIR has been registered under various laws related to gang rape, kidnapping and assault.

Accused identified through CCTV footage:

The police, who have taken up the investigation into the case, have examined the CCTV footage and identified the bus and the accused. The bus driver was arrested from a parking lot in Timarpur and the bus was seized for forensic examination. The police have collected other evidence, including CCTV footage, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to police sources, the bus was returning empty after undergoing repairs at a workshop in Surajpur. It was taken to the workshop after a mechanical fault was detected in the bus. After the repairs were completed, the driver and driver were on their way to the parking lot in Timarpur when they came across the girl at Pari Chowk.

According to a police officer, since this route mostly passes through ring roads and highways, it is difficult to put up barricades repeatedly. This is likely to cause traffic congestion. However, he said that police personnel have been deployed in the Delhi-Noida border area.

“The girl’s family was informed on the same night of the incident and they were called to Delhi. A female police personnel remained with the girl and provided necessary assistance until the family arrived. The girl was handed over to her family after completing the necessary legal procedures,” the police officer said.

Police sources said that a medical examination of the accused has also been conducted in the wake of the girl’s allegations.

Forensic examination has also been completed on the bus and the evidence collected from there has been sent for further analysis, sources said.
