Delhi, Sep 05: Heavy rains have caused disruptions in Delhi and the national capital. Delhi International Airport is flooded. Roads are flooded in many places due to continuous rain. As a result, flight operations have been disrupted. As the rain intensifies, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for many parts including Delhi.
Thunderstorms, increased water stress
There has been a shortage of rain this year. Due to extreme weather conditions, flooding conditions have been created in many places. Flooding is increasing after the Nepal disaster. Now, low-lying areas have been flooded due to heavy rains in some parts including Delhi. There has been thunder and lightning.
Many flights diverted
The Delhi International Airport is flooded. Passengers are in distress. Due to the waterlogging in many places including the runway, flights are facing problems taking off and landing. Some flights have been delayed. Meanwhile, several flights have been diverted.
A Delhi flight departing from Bengaluru has been diverted to Lucknow due to rain. Ludhiana-Delhi, Indore-Delhi, Hyderabad-Delhi flights have been diverted to Lucknow airport.
A red alert has been issued for Delhi and the national capital. It has warned that there will be rain for the next three days. It has said that some areas are likely to receive 500 mm to 100 mm of rain. There will be thunder and lightning. It has also said that winds are likely to blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph.
