A Fearless Girl With Fear | Episode 03

Chapter 11 — Breaking Point
Her friends noticed before she did.
The exhaustion. The silence. The fear hidden behind normal conversations.
One day, after a violent incident, everything finally collapsed.
Women’s rights authorities became involved.
A case was filed.
For the first time in years, someone officially called what she was experiencing by its real name:
Abuse.
But freedom did not arrive peacefully.
Because now another battle began.
Her children.

Chapter 12 — The Child She Couldn’t Reach
Separation broke her in ways pain never had.
One child stayed distant. Influenced. Emotionally pulled away from her.
Every day became a fight between survival and motherhood.
Court visits. Tears. Arguments. Sleepless nights.
She wanted both children.
But life rarely returns everything it takes.
One evening, during a family function, violence exploded again publicly.
And that night, she made the most painful decision of her life.
She would leave India.
Not to escape responsibility.
But to build a future before there was nothing left of her.

Chapter 13 — Leaving Again
The airport lights reflected in her tired eyes.
Beside her stood one child.
The other remained behind.
That absence felt heavier than luggage.
As the flight prepared for departure, she looked outside the window silently.
Years ago, she had left Mumbai with her grandmother.
Now she was leaving her country with her son.
Again.
Again life was forcing her to begin from nothing.
But this time, she was not a child anymore.
This time, she carried scars. Responsibilities. Trauma. And a fear she could no longer hide behind silence.
The plane slowly moved forward.
She closed her eyes.
And somewhere deep inside her, a thought appeared quietly:
Was this finally the beginning of freedom…
Or just another chapter of survival?

Chapter 14 — Foreign Sky
The airplane finally landed.
Janvi looked outside the window silently.
Everything felt unfamiliar.
Different buildings.
Different people.
Different language.
Different sky.
But inside her, the pain was still the same.

This time she had not come with family.
Not with friends.
Not with comfort.
She came alone.

Back in India, Sonu was staying in a hostel.
It was one of the hardest decisions of her life.
Every mother wants to wake up and see her child nearby.
But Janvi carried a different hope in her heart.
She wanted to build something first.
A safer life.
A stable life.
A better future for her son.

Before leaving India, she had kissed Sonu on his forehead and held him tightly.
“Amma will come back stronger,” she whispered.
Sonu did not fully understand.
Children rarely understand sacrifices while they are happening.

Days abroad became routine.
Wake up.
Work.
Come back.
Sleep.
Repeat.

Long hours slowly exhausted her body.
But loneliness exhausted her heart more.
After work she would sometimes sit near the window of her small room.
The city lights outside looked beautiful.
But beauty feels different when nobody is beside you.

Every night before sleeping she looked at Sonu’s photo.
She smiled.
Then tears quietly followed.

Chapter 15-16 — The Smile Nobody Understood
Days slowly turned into months.
Janvi continued moving through life like clockwork.
Wake up.
Work.
Smile.
Return home.
Cry.
Sleep.
Repeat.

People in the office liked Janvi.
She was kind.
Helpful.
Always ready to listen.
Even on days when her own heart felt heavy, she still asked others:
“Did you eat?”
“Are you okay?”
She made people laugh.
She smiled during conversations.
She behaved as if everything in life was fine.

One day during lunch break, a colleague looked at her and smiled.
“Janvi, you are always happy. I never see you upset.”
Janvi smiled back softly.
“Maybe smiling became a habit.”

But inside, another voice whispered:
No… smiling became survival.

That evening after work, Janvi went back to her room.
She opened her small cupboard.
The same clothes.
The same room.
The same quiet life.

She sat on the floor and started calculating expenses again.
Hostel fees for Sonu.
Loan payment.
Room expenses.
Food.
Travel.

The salary felt smaller every month.
And responsibilities felt bigger.

She looked at the remaining money and quietly smiled to herself.
Not because she was happy.
Because if she didn’t smile, she felt like she would break.

Suddenly her phone lit up.
Sonu Calling…
Her eyes changed instantly.
She picked it up immediately.
“Amma!”
His little voice filled the room.
And for the first time that day…
Janvi’s smile became real.

But after talking for a few minutes, Sonu became quiet.
Very quiet.
Janvi noticed immediately.
“Sonu… what happened?”
Silence.
Then slowly he asked:
“Amma… when are you coming back?”

Janvi stopped breathing for a moment.
Because sometimes simple questions hurt the most.

Chapter 17 — The Question That Broke Her
Janvi stayed silent for a few seconds.
Her fingers tightened around the phone.
On the other side, Sonu waited.
Children do not understand bank loans.
Children do not understand legal battles.
Children do not understand sacrifices.
They only understand one thing:
Missing someone they love.

“Amma… when are you coming back?”
The question echoed in her mind again.
Janvi looked at the wall in front of her.
Her eyes slowly filled with tears.
But she quickly wiped them away.
Because mothers learn how to cry silently.

She forced a small smile into her voice.
“Soon, Sonu… Amma is working hard, remember?”
“For me?” he asked innocently.
Janvi closed her eyes.
“Always for you.”

There was excitement in Sonu’s voice again.
He started telling her small things.
About school.
About food he didn’t like.
About a friend who made him laugh.
Janvi listened carefully.
Every word felt precious.

Because these small conversations had become her happiness.

After the call ended, the room became quiet again.
Too quiet.
Janvi placed the phone beside her and stared at the ceiling.

Her mind suddenly travelled backwards.
To Mumbai.
To Bangalore.
To Jayalakshmi.
To struggles.
To Sohan.
To everything she had survived.

Then a painful thought entered her mind:
Why does every new beginning in my life start with losing something first?

She turned towards the window.
Outside, people were laughing and walking together.
Life continued moving for everyone.

Inside the room, Janvi pulled Sonu’s small photo close to her chest.
And that night…
she cried harder than usual.
Not because she was weak.
Because strength gets tired too.
