Bengaluru, May 19: In the wake of Bakrid festival, a special operation was conducted to clear temporary sheep and goat market sheds that were constructed illegally in various areas under the jurisdiction of Bengaluru North Municipal Corporation.


As per the directions of Municipal Corporation Commissioner P. Sunil Kumar, a team of municipal officials cleared temporary sheds, tarpaulin enclosures, iron fences and structures that were illegally used for sheep trading along public roads, footpaths, vacant government land and Rajkaluve.
The temporary sheds were cleared with the help of JCB machines. In some areas, cooperation was received from the public and the operation was completed peacefully.
Rules and regulations:
Animal trading should be conducted only in permitted places. Sheds cannot be constructed on public roads and footpaths. Waste should be disposed of as per the instructions of the corporation. Animal welfare rules should be followed while transporting and handling animals. The corporation commissioner has warned that legal action will be taken if any violation of the rules is found.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the veterinary officers of the animal husbandry department, the assistant executive engineer of the engineering department, officials of the health department, the police department and other staff.
