20 lakh compensation for the family of the boy who died in a leopard attack

Chamarajanagar, May 11: The government has announced Rs. 20 lakh compensation for the family of the boy who died in a leopard attack in Nagamale.

On Sunday (May 10), a leopard attacked the boy while he was going to Nagamale from Male Mahadeshwara Hill. During this time, the boy died. Currently, the forest department has announced Rs. 20 lakh compensation for the boy’s family and has already given a check of Rs. 5 lakh. The officials have decided to send the remaining money soon after getting the account information.

The movement of the leopard that killed the boy was captured on a thermal drone camera. Therefore, the forest department is currently moving forward to capture the leopard and has installed four bones. More than 30 forest personnel have also been stationed at the site. The thermal drone team has also been keeping an eye on the leopard overnight. For now, devotees have been temporarily banned from going to Nagamale.

What was the incident?

Harshit Gowda, a native of Vrishabhavati Nagar in Kamakshipalya, who was on his way to Nagamale, was dragged and killed by a leopard in front of his parents in a horrific incident that took place near Indiganattha village in Hanur taluk. On Sunday morning, Harshit was walking on the Nagamale trail with 10 family members when a leopard attacked him near Indiganattha. The leopard dragged the boy in front of his family members. When the forest officials who arrived at the spot conducted an operation, the boy’s body was found inside the forest.

While going into the forest, he took Rs 200. More money was taken and left inside. No forest official came for half an hour after the attack on the child. Later, when people started fighting, they searched for the dead body. What happened to our child should not happen to anyone. The boy’s family has accused the forest department of negligence for this death.
