New Delhi, Aug 24: Heavy rains are continuously falling in Delhi. This has caused traffic jams all over the city, and people are not even able to come out on the roads. Meanwhile, flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport have also been severely disrupted due to heavy rains today.
More than 250 flights have been delayed at Delhi airport. Also, 15 flights have been diverted. Due to the extreme weather conditions, the routes of about 15 flights, including 3 international flights that were supposed to arrive and depart from Delhi, have been diverted.
Heavy rains have caused heavy traffic congestion across Delhi due to waterlogging. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rains for many districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain in Delhi-NCR and neighbouring areas. Heavy rain is also likely in many parts of Uttarakhand, Odisha and Telangana. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad districts.
Major disruption in air traffic:

Airlines advise passengers:
Several major airlines, including SpiceJet, have issued an advisory to passengers, warning that the bad weather may also affect connecting flights. Passengers have been advised to check their flight status online before heading to the airport.
IndiGo:
IndiGo has warned passengers about flight delays, saying, “The adverse weather conditions in Delhi have affected the timing of flights. We are closely monitoring the weather conditions. We are doing our best to ensure your safe and smooth journey.”
Spice Jet:
“Due to adverse weather conditions in Delhi, all departures and arrivals and subsequent flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.”
Akas Air:
“The severe weather conditions in Delhi have affected major flights on our network. This may cause inconvenience to your travel plans. Please cooperate,” Akas has requested.
