Gold worth Rs 1.37 crore seized at Bengaluru Airport

Devanahalli, June 10: Bengaluru Customs officials, who have been cracking down on drug trafficking cases for the past few days, have now seized a large amount of gold that was being smuggled illegally and arrested the accused. 899.50 grams of 24-carat gold worth Rs 1.37 crore was seized from a passenger who had arrived from Dubai at Kempegowda International Airport near Devanahalli. Through this, the officials have exposed the smuggling of the accused.

Attempt to smuggle gold paste hidden in capsules:

The accused had made a serious plan to smuggle gold. He had tried to smuggle gold paste hidden in four capsules. However, when the officers conducted an inspection due to suspicious behavior, the matter of gold smuggling was revealed. The accused has been arrested under the Customs Act and the investigation is ongoing.

Theft of gold ornaments worth lakhs from the house

An incident of theft of gold ornaments worth lakhs from the house targeting a single house took place in Kadirenahalli, Bengaluru North taluk. The thieves showed their cunning at the house of Arun Kumar and stole 200 grams of gold worth Rs 21 lakh and 3 kg of silver worth Rs 7 lakh, along with a silk saree.

Two days ago, the Arun Kumar couple had gone to a relative’s house for an auspicious occasion. It is said that the thieves broke the door lock and entered the house. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station in connection with the incident.
