Kolkata, June 10: Another big setback for the Trinamool Congress. Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, a close aide of party chief Mamata Banerjee, has resigned from her post.
Amidst internal differences in the TMC and a large number of leaders leaving the party, Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev has also resigned from her post. This has come as another shock to former CM Mamata Banerjee.
“I am resigning from the Rajya Sabha membership, please accept it with immediate effect,” the outgoing leader said in a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan.
Shortly after the resignation, a photo of Sushmita Dev smiling with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sharma at her residence in Delhi surfaced on social media.
Sushmita Dev’s resignation is being seen as another political blow to the party. However, the reasons behind her resignation have not been officially revealed yet. Sushmita Dev has long been a prominent face of the TMC and has played an active role in working for the party at the national level.
