Chennai, May 25: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday directed the police to immediately register cases against those involved in sex crimes, conduct speedy investigations and ensure strict punishment to the culprits.

After the sexual assault and brutal murder of a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore, Vijay held a meeting with senior officers today to review the law and order situation and instructed to take strict action against those involved in heinous crimes.
Meanwhile, in the review meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Attorney General to expedite the trial, ensure precautionary measures and awareness in cases related to crimes against women and children.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary to the State Government M. Saikumar, Home Secretary K. Manivasan, Advocate General Vijay Narayan, Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Secretary Mariam Pallavi Baldev, Director General of Police Sandeep Roy Rathod and other senior officials were present.
