Chennai, Aug 10: Due to the increase in cases of taking pictures of the idol of God inside the temple and disturbing others while having darshan, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a strict order completely banning the use of mobile phones in the premises of all temples in the state. Here is the report on that:
Ban from September 1:
In recent days, scenes of the sanctum sanctorum and idols of many temples were being recorded on mobile phones and reels and videos were being shared on social media. The Hindu Religious and Endowments Department of the Tamil Nadu government has issued a new rule completely banning it from September 1, saying that this is harming the spiritual atmosphere of the temples. Earlier, the Madras High Court had strictly ordered the state government to ban the use of mobile phones in temples.
Further, the state government will set up separate counters for safe storage of mobile phones near the entrance or footwear area of all major temples in the state by September 1. Devotees will have to pay only Rs.5 per mobile to deposit their phones here. Furthermore, devotees will be given an official receipt through the Integrated Temple Management System (ITMS) immediately after receiving the phone. Accordingly, even after the darshan is over, the phone can be returned by showing this receipt.
Meanwhile, this rule of the Vijay government is applicable to everyone equally. Accordingly, even when important politicians, film actors and actresses or influential people visit the temple, their photos or videos will not be allowed.
