Mumbai: Maharashtra Police has provided ‘Y-plus’ security to six ‘rebel’ MPs of Shiv Sena (UBT).

Sanjay Dina Patil (Mumbai-North East), Sanjay Deshmukh (Yavatmal-Washim), Sanjay Jadhav (Parbhani), Bhausaheb Walkchoure (Shirdi), Nagesh Patil-Ashtikar (Hingoli) and Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar (Osmanabad) have been provided security, said a letter signed by Intelligence Commissioner Shirish Jain.
Accordingly, these MPs should be provided Y-plus security with immediate effect, the letter dated June 17 said.
Amidst yet another split in the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction in Maharashtra, the MP did not attend the crucial parliamentary party meeting of the Uddhav Thackeray-led party in Delhi on Thursday.
A local Shiv Sena (UBT) leader from Washim on Wednesday warned rebel MP Sanjay Deshmukh that he will not be allowed to return to the constituency without resigning from his MP post and his car will be set on fire if he changes parties.
Shiv Sena (UBT)’s lone Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday lashed out at the MPs who skipped the parliamentary meeting, saying ‘traitors’ need protection from the Indian Air Force to protect themselves from the wrath of Shiv Sainiks.
Party workers in Dharashiv said that those who leave the party will not be allowed to roam freely in the constituency and cow dung will be thrown in their faces.
