Mangaluru: The Investiture Ceremony of the Bunny Movement for the academic year 2026–27 was held with great enthusiasm at St Aloysius Gonzaga School on 29 July 2026 in Gonzaga Hall.
The ceremony was graced by Sandhya R. Shenoy as the Chief Guest, in the presence of the Principal, Rev. Fr Rohan D’Almeida, SJ, and Vice Principal and Kindergarten Coordinator Aparna Suresh. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Sandhya R. Shenoy, highlighted that the Bunny Movement lays a strong foundation for children aged three to five by nurturing discipline, teamwork, love for God and nature, and essential values through joyful activities. She encouraged the little bunnies to continue their journey by joining Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts, and Guides in the years ahead. Principal Rev. Fr Rohan D’Almeida, SJ, beautifully explained the symbolism of the Bunny, stating that its long ears remind children to listen attentively, its love for carrots encourages healthy eating habits, and the Bunny apron inspires a spirit of service towards parents, teachers, and society. He also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the teachers and staff in organising the programme.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome by KG II students Aarna Shetty, Amyka Shina, and Anaya Basty. The dignitaries then lit the ceremonial lamp.
A unique inaugural ceremony marked the opening of the Bunny Movement as little bunnies emerged from symbolic burrows to a wake-up call by the Principal and received carrots from the Chief Guest, officially declaring the Bunny Movement open. Veronica explained the significance of the Bunny Movement and its role in fostering discipline, teamwork, leadership, values, and holistic development.
The highlight of the ceremony was the investiture of the young bunnies. Bunny aprons were presented to the children by the dignitaries and teachers. The Bunny Oath was administered by the Principal, followed by the Bunny Salute led by Agnes. An energetic mass drill by the little bunnies added colour and excitement to the programme, reflecting their confidence and discipline.
The Chief Guest was felicitated as a token of gratitude. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mishal Carel Crasta, followed by a photo session. The event was compered by Flavia Pinto and marked the beginning of another joyful and enriching year of the Bunny Movement at the school.
