New Delhi: The Indian-origin community in Germany has taken a very important step towards further strengthening the ties between India and Germany.

Leading inventor and Ethical AI expert Chitra Vishwanath, who lives in Stuttgart, Germany, and leaders of the Indian community in Germany have officially launched the ‘India Federation of Germany’ (IFG).
This federation (Bundesverband der Indischen Vereinigungen e.V.) has been established with the aim of bringing more than 100 Indian organizations from 16 federal states in Germany under one roof. Currently, there are more than 3 lakh people of Indian origin in Germany, contributing about 15 billion euros (about more than Rs 1.66 lakh crore) annually to the economy there. The ‘India Federation of Germany’ will act as the collective voice of this large community.
At a time when economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries is deepening under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, this federation will act as a cultural and economic bridge between the two countries.
Chitra recalls how 28 years ago, in the bitter cold of November, she stepped into Germany as an ordinary young woman with only self-confidence and ‘Indian values’ and began her studies there as a student in the first batch of an international master’s degree.
Chitra has had a long and successful career with the famous German company ‘Bosch’ for 25 years. She has built a strong family in Germany with her husband Manjunath Gubbi for the last 27 years. While successfully raising her daughters in the German education system, she has maintained the core values of her Sanatan Dharma.
The establishment of this alliance will not only further uphold India’s pride in Germany, but is also expected to help take India-Germany bilateral relations to new heights in the coming days.
