Indian sailor’s mysterious death in Venezuela – Family says heart, brain, lungs missing

New Delhi: A gruesome truth has come to light after the body of a 33-year-old Indian sailor (navy employee) who died mysteriously in Venezuela reached India. The family has seriously alleged that the deceased sailor’s body was missing vital organs including his heart, brain and lungs. This incident has led to a huge debate.

Also, there were extensive stitches on the body. The 2nd post-mortem examination revealed that 22 stitches were placed from the neck to the pubic symphysis (lower abdomen) and 21 stitches from one ear to the other. The body was kept in cold storage for about a month. There were no injuries on the body before death. The report said that the exact cause of death could not be determined as all the internal organs were missing. The incident has raised serious questions about the treatment of Indian workers abroad and the responsibility of the foreign authorities concerned.

The family of Rakesh Chauhan, a resident of Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh, has demanded a thorough investigation into the mysterious death. The family was informed by the shipping company that he had died mysteriously while working on a commercial ship off the coast of Venezuela. Initial reports said that it was a natural death or an accident. However, the real story began when the sailor’s body was brought back to India after legal proceedings and a long wait.

What did the post-mortem reveal?:

Unsatisfied with the investigation in Venezuela and suspicious about the death, the family of the sailor requested a second post-mortem at a hospital here as soon as the body arrived in India. They were shocked when the Indian doctors conducted the post-mortem. The vital organs inside the body, such as the heart, brain and lungs, were missing. The medical report confirmed that these organs were not present in the body.

Suspicion of organ trafficking:

The family members, shocked by this shocking development, have alleged that their son was murdered in Venezuela and that he was a victim of an international organ trafficking ring. “They have sent us only an empty body without any organs. Now we are not getting any evidence to know the real cause of his death,” the family members said in tears.

Demand for Indian government intervention:

The family members of the sailor have demanded immediate intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Venezuela in this matter. They have demanded a thorough investigation against the ship’s management, the local hospital there and the Venezuelan government officials. Currently, Indian investigative agencies and the Department of External Affairs are trying to reach out to Venezuelan authorities on this matter.
